1.  “Hunted winners explain how they eluded the law to win $250,000”

https://ew.com/tv/2017/03/02/hunted-winners-cbs-interview/

Interview with the winners of Hunted - married couple Stephen & English King and friends Lee Wilson & Hilmar Skagfield — about how they managed to cover 100,000 square miles in 28 days without attracting the, um, good guys.

Hunted is a  CBS reality series that pitted nine teams against highly skilled investigators using state-of-the-art tracking methods.

Notable points from the interview:

“Our main strategy going into this was to use as little technology as possible. We knew that was going to be what the hunters would use to find us. We utilized phones but in a strategic way. I kept a detailed log, making sure we did not do it in a pattern that we thought the hunters would track. We were somewhat naïve, really knowing and understanding all the capabilities the hunters had, which makes it insane and somewhat shocking that we ended up winning.”

“You plan for everything. You feel like this escape artist. Thinking through our community strategically in the southeast and how to play a game of chess and not checkers. We knew the hunters would try to shut down our opportunities left and right so even in the second episode you see us get an entire private email server shut down. You have to respond by creating new options that are happening without you needing to be there. We had people who were coming to rally against the hunters to defend.”

“Hunters are basing their search on human nature. You can’t give up everything, the family, the friends — all the things your past life is. Moving on and starting over is really hard to do. But that’s what we chose to do. We dropped everything.”

2.  “Like Eric Frein, These Fugitive Survivalists Eluded Police Capture”

https://abcnews.go.com/US/eric-frein-fugitive-survivalists-eluded-police-capture/story?id=25677257

This article has a great (and short) video piece that goes with it that may be of interest.   In the cases outlined, they are all people who lived off the land while evading capture.  It sometimes takes years to find fugitives who are accomplished outdoorsmen.  Eric Rudolph, one of the people mentioned, evaded authorities for 5 years by going into the wilderness.   Important quote from this article:

"That's part of being a survivalist -- taking advantage of what resources you have and knowing where to look for them."

3.  How to elude the law for 48 years: The secret life of a fugitive

https://www.ajc.com/news/how-elude-the-law-for-years-the-secret-life-fugitive/J5oA7i0pANdAxUV05QfTrK/

This article details Robert Stalckowitz’s method of eluding authorities for over 40 years (robbery in Georgia in 1968.)  In this case, it was as simple as choosing the right town, and acting “normal.”   When Stackowitz chose this laid-back little lake town to hide out, he got lucky. Nestled in the rolling green hills between New York and Connecticut, Sherman is a quiet hamlet of only 3,600 people.

This is a lengthy article to summarize, and I’m happy to do so, but we will need to use additional credits, so I do want to be sure that it is one that you want.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
